Electoral Synod

Electoral Synod

From its earliest days, the Church has been called by God to select an overseer and pastor to both lead and protect the Body of Christ (see Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and Acts 20:28).

A special electoral synod will convene on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Christ’s Church Cathedral in Hamilton to elect the successor to Bishop Michael Bird.

Synod council has appointed a seven-person Electoral Synod Nominations and Planning Committee to direct the electoral process, chaired by the Reverend Ann Turner.

To be eligible for election, the canons of the church require a priest to be in good-standing with regard to the doctrine and discipline of the Anglican Church of Canada, at least thirty years of age, and ordained for at least seven years.
