Migrant Farmworker Ordained Missioner
Diocese of Niagara
The Diocese of Niagara is actively recruiting an Ordained Missioner to lead the Migrant Farmworker Mission Project (MFMP). The Missioner will build and nurture relationships with seasonal agricultural workers to support and address their missional needs (pastoral, sacramental, educational, and missional). This will primarily take place at the St. Alban’s, Beamsville hub and others with support of local other parish and ecumenical ministry and other agencies involved in the project.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership
· Work with the bishop, community missioner, and advisory board to implement the MFMP mission action plan and annual strategic goals.
· Develop policies and procedures to support the operational needs of the MFMP.
· Represent the MFMP at community activities and public speaking engagements.
· Develop new Spanish-language missional activities to meet expressed spiritual and sacramental needs.
Financial Planning and Management
· Work with the stewardship & campaign advisor to develop and execute fundraising plans.
· Develop grant applications to support MFMP initiatives.
· Work with the community missioner and advisory board to prepare a comprehensive annual budget.
· Work with the diocesan finance team to administer MFMP funding according to the approved budget.
Program Planning and Management
· Ensure that missional and worship is an integral part of the mission; celebrating the Eucharist in Spanish.
· Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the DMFWMP programs.
· Develop an operational plan that works towards the strategic direction of the ministry.
· Recruit, screen, supervise, support, train, manage and recognize volunteers and mission personnel.
Community Relations/Advocacy
· Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed about the ministry and to identify changes in the community served by the MFMP.
· Identify and mobilize resources and community partners to support and benefit the mission.
· Advocate with migrant farmworkers and in solidarity with ecumenical and community organizations.
· Prepare information materials to publicize and promote programs, events, and activities.
Parish Support
· Provide pastoral, programmatic and liturgical support to parishes as directed by the bishop.
Qualifications:
· An ordained Anglican Priest in good standing for three years ideally with missional leadership and engagement experience working with diverse and/or marginalized communities.
· Demonstrated grant-writing, fundraising, community development and engagement, program development, and volunteer management experience.
· Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
· Excellent leadership, donor relations, communication and organizational skills.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable car required.
· Current and satisfactory police record check include vulnerable sector screening
