Sympathy (Towler)

Our deepest sympathy to the Reverend Rob Towler, rector of St. John’s in St. Catharines (Port Dalhousie), on the death of his mother, Glenna E. Towler, on November 9, 2024. Following her wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and the family will gather for a private scattering. Please remember Rob, and his siblings Helen and Richard, their families, friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations to the Reverend Malcolm French on his 40th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood on November 16.

New Canons Named

Bishop Susan Bell has named five new Honorary Canons of Christ's Church Cathedral: Garfield Adams, missioner and rector of St. Luke's, Palermo (Oakville); Eleanor Clitheroe, rector of St. Luke's, Smithville; Malcolm French, rector of St. Simon's, Oakville; Naomi Kabugi, rector of St. Stephen-on-the-Mount, Hamilton and Christ Church, Flamborough; and Tom Vaughan, co-rector of St. George’s, St. Catharines. Congratulations Canons!

Appointment (Canon Nirmal Mendis)

The Reverend Canon Nirmal Mendis has been appointed to serve as priest-in-charge of Christ Church, Wainfleet, on a part-time time, effective November 1, 2024.He will also continue to serve as rector at Holy Trinity, Fonthill and All Saints, Welland (Dain City), on a part-time basis.

Our deepest sympathy to the Reverend Deacon Joyce Richardson-Tufford, deacon of St. John’s Anglican Church in Jordan, on the death of her husband, Reginald Tufford, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Reg’s celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 23 at 2:00pm at the St. John’s Anglican Church in Jordan (2878 St. John’s Dr, Jordan ON L0R 1S0), with a reception to follow. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Please remember Joyce, her family, friends, and parish community in your thoughts and prayers.

Retirement (Mark Gladding)

The Reverend Mark Gladding has submitted his intention to retire as priest-in-charge of St. John's, Niagara Falls and Holy Trinity, Niagara Falls (Chippawa), effective December 1, 2024.

Retirement (Illas)

The Reverend Antonio Illas has submitted his intention to retire as rector of St. John's, Winona and as the Migrant Farmworker Missioner, effective May 1, 2025. At the same time, Cela Tecamachaltzi de Illas’ ministry with the Migrant Farmworkers Project will also come to a conclusion.
