Sympathy (Donald Coombe)

It is with sadness that we share the news of the death of the Reverend Donald James Coombe on Sunday, December 8, 2024. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Church of Our Saviour The Redeemer (25 Lake Avenue South, Stoney Creek) at 11am. Clergy are invited to vest (Liturgical colour: white). Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 10:00am. Please hold Donald’s children, Philip, Stephen, and Mary and their families, friends, and parish in your prayers as they mourn. May he rest in peace and rise in glory!

Appointment (Archdeacon Val Kerr)

The Venerable Val Kerr has been appointed to serve as interim priest-in-charge of St. John the Evangelist, Niagara Falls and Holy Trinity, Niagara Falls (Chippawa), on a part-time time, effective December 1, 2024.

New Canons Named

Bishop Susan Bell has named five new Honorary Canons of Christ's Church Cathedral: Garfield Adams, missioner and rector of St. Luke's, Palermo (Oakville); Eleanor Clitheroe, rector of St. Luke's, Smithville; Malcolm French, rector of St. Simon's, Oakville; Naomi Kabugi, rector of St. Stephen-on-the-Mount, Hamilton and Christ Church, Flamborough; and Tom Vaughan, co-rector of St. George’s, St. Catharines. Congratulations Canons!

Retirement (Illas)

The Reverend Antonio Illas has submitted his intention to retire as rector of St. John's, Winona and as the Migrant Farmworker Missioner, effective May 1, 2025. At the same time, Cela Tecamachaltzi de Illas’ ministry with the Migrant Farmworkers Project will also come to a conclusion.
