The Reverend Canon Gerald Shantz, honorary assistant at St.John's, Port Dalhousie (St.Catharines), passed away on October 3. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, at 11:30 a.m., at St.John's Church, 80 Main Street, (Port Dalhousie), St.Catharines. Interment will follow at St.John's Cemetery, and a reception will be held in the parish hall following interment. Guest clergy are not expected to vest or process.

The Reverend Dean Cormack, Rector of St.John's, Winona, and Chaplain at San Gabriel, Hamilon; has been granted a leave of absence, beginning November 1, in order to seize an international mission opportunity, serving the Bishop and Diocese of Cuba as a volunteer, for up to a six month leave. The Reverend Paul Whitehouse will assume the role of Priest-in-Charge at Winona, and the Reverend Leonel Abaroa-Bolona, will assume responsibility for the San Gabriel congregation.

Synod Council has appointed the Reverend Canon Bill Mous to serve as Secretary of Synod, effective January 1, 2019. In his full-time ministry role, Canon Mous will oversee governance, property and communications related matters for the diocese, under the direction of the Bishop and the synod council.

Retirement (Canon Marni Nancekivell)Posted: August 20, 2018
The Reverend Canon Marni Nancekivell has announced her intention to retire from her diocesan appointments and employment effective March 31, 2019 and to resign her responsibilities as Secretary of Synod (with responsibility for diocesan properties) effective December 31, 2018. From January 1, 2019 through March 31, 2019, Canon Nancekivell will focus her energy on the roles of Director of Safe Church and Volunteer Management and Screening on a full-time basis.
