Sympathy (Canon Cheryl Barker)

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that the Reverend Canon Cheryl Barker, rector of St. George’s, Georgetown, and regional dean of Trafalgar died on Friday, August 7. We give thanks to God for Cheryl’s life and ministry. Please hold in your prayers Cheryl's husband, Frank; her sons, Samuel and Luke; and their whole family, as well as the many people, parishes, and communities she touched through her ministry. 

Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home (11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown) on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held at Christ's Church Cathedral (252 James Street N., Hamilton) on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery (100 King Street, Georgetown). A reception will follow at St. George's, Georgetown (60 Guelph Street). All are welcome to join Cheryl's family and friends in sharing stories, memories, and fellowship. May she rest in peace and rise in glory with the saints!

Resignation (Canon Claire Wade)

The Reverend Canon Claire Wade will conclude her ministry as priest-in-charge of Christ Church, Woodburn, effective September 1, 2026, and will return to a well-deserved retirement after her faithful service.

Appointment (Dean Cormack)

The Reverend Dean Cormack has been appointed as priest-in-charge of Christ Church, Woodburn, on a part-time basis, Effective September 1, 2026.

It is with sadness that we share the news of the death of the Reverend Canon Wendy Roy. Please hold Canon Wendy's family, friends, and colleagues in your prayers as they mourn. A service to celebrate her life and ministry will be held on Monday, August 24 at 2pm at Christ's Church, Flamborough, with visitation happening beforehand at 1pm. A reception will follow in the parish hall. May she rest in peace and rise in glory!
