Good Friday

Location: ON

Date: April 3, 2026

Good Friday is a day of solemnity. On this day, we remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death upon that cross. We remember with sorrow Jesus’ journey and his sacrifice for our salvation. Liturgy services focus on his Passion, as told in the Gospel of John, and include a veneration of the cross, intercessory prayers, and a focus on silence and reflection. Communion from reserved sacrament may be offered.

Some parishes will also host a Stations of the Cross, a Christian devotion that explores 14 events in Jesus’ journey to his crucifixion and burial. Typically, the stations are displayed in parishes as paintings, carvings, and pictures. Those participating will engage with each station by reading a portion of scripture, taking time for silent or spoken reflection, and a concluding prayer.
