A Thanksgiving for Ministry: Collation of Archdeacon and Installation of Canons

During her charge at the 151st Synod of the Diocese of Niagara, Bishop Susan Bell announced two new honorary canons of Christ's Church Cathedral, recognizing their extraordinary service to the Church through their ministries. Congratulations to Canon Cheryl Barker, rector of St. George’s in Georgetown, and Canon Will Alakas, rector of St. Columba’s, St. Catharines. “Both have distinguished themselves by their love for their parishes and by their support of the diocese as a whole.”

In October, Bishop Susan Bell appointed the Reverend Canon Paul Walker, rector of St. John's, Elora, to serve as Archdeacon of Greater Wellington, effective November 1, 2025. The new archdeacon will also be collated at the service. 

A Choral Evensong service of installation will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Christ's Church Cathedral, Hamilton.
