What to Expect
Service Length
Most services last about an hour, though times vary by parish and service type
Welcoming Community
Greeters at the door, bulletins to guide you, and friendly faces ready to help
Music & Singing
Hymns, contemporary worship, or choir music depending on the parish tradition
Coffee Hour
Many parishes offer refreshments and fellowship after the service
Sunday Eucharist
Typically 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, or 11:00am
The main Sunday service centered around Holy Communion. May be traditional with formal liturgy or contemporary with modern music. There is also usually a quieter, spoken service earlier in the morning.
Morning Prayer
Various times
A service of scripture readings, psalms, and prayers. Often quieter and more meditative.
Evensong (Evening Prayer)
Sunday evenings
Beautiful sung service, often featuring choirs. Can also be offered spoken word or chanted. A peaceful way to end the day.
Creative Services

Some churches offer other creative services such as afternoon Jazz Vespers, featuring small jazz combos, or Taizé services, which feature candlelight and meditative singing.

What should I wear?
Come as you are! Some people dress up, others wear jeans. You'll see a range, and all are welcome. Wear what makes you comfortable.
Where should I sit?
Anywhere you'd like! Some visitors prefer sitting toward the back to observe, while others like being closer. All seats are open.
Can I take Communion?
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion. If you're not baptized or prefer not to receive, you can come forward for a blessing (cross your arms over your chest) or remain in your seat.
What about children?
Children are always welcome in worship! Many parishes offer Sunday School, nursery care, or activity bags. Ask a greeter about what's available.
