Becoming an Anglican

Your journey to becoming part of the Anglican family begins with exploration and grows through learning, connection, and commitment.

A Journey, Not a Destination

Becoming an Anglican isn’t about checking boxes or meeting requirements. It’s about joining a community of faith, embracing a way of worship, and committing to a life of following Jesus in the Anglican tradition.

Everyone’s journey looks different. There’s no rush, no pressure. Take the time you need to explore, ask questions, and discern if this is the path God is calling you to walk.

Make your commitment through Baptism and/or Confirmation

Baptism

Baptism is the sacrament of welcome into the Christian family. Through water and the Holy Spirit, we are joined to Christ’s death and resurrection, and marked as Christ’s own forever.

If you’ve never been baptized, baptism is the beginning of life within the Christian community. We welcome people of all ages – infants, children, and adults – to be baptized in any of our parishes.

Baptism

Confirmation

Confirmation is when you publicly confirm your faith before the bishop. It’s a personal commitment to follow Jesus and fulfil your baptismal vows, often undertaken by young people and those returning to the church.

If you were baptized as a child (in an Anglican or other church), confirmation is an opportunity to reclaim your faith and renew your commitment to live as a Christian.
