World Day of Prayer 2025: I Made You Wonderful
Friday, March 7 Marks the World Day of Prayer
Posted February 25, 2025
The World Day of Prayer is an inter-church and international movement where people speaking 90 different languages, in 150 different countries unite in spirit to pray for relevant issues that are impacting women and children. The motto of this movement is Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action to remember that prayer and action are inseparable and can have significant impact in the world.
Each year a different host country prepares the content which allows them to highlight their culture and the justice issues in their region. This year women from Cooks Island have prepared materials to guide our prayer for the theme “I Made You Wonderful” based on Psalm 139:14. Recognizing that too often women are silenced and oppressed, the theme invites us to remember that each one of us was made by our loving God. That women and girls are too “fearfully and wonderfully made” and that we should not take our divinely created bodies for granted.
This inspiring piece of artwork, “Wonderfully Made” was lovingly created by a mother and daughter team, Tarani Napa and Tevairangi Napa. The images in this painting represent their home, their faith, and their heritage. The artists reflect on several of these images celebrating their cultural and spiritual meanings: "Our precious Tivaevae quilts represent patience, love, and unity. We honor God’s love and mercy with hats we wear to church, woven by skillful loving hands from the strands of Rito, the young coconut leaf.”
