Grace, faithfulness, hospitality and much spirit were found in abundance during a recent visit to the Diocese of Cuba. Bishop Michael Bird and the Reverend Billl Mous had the opportunity to experience the hope of Anglicans in Cuba as they came alongside God’s work in their world. At one parish visit in Bolondron, the fruits of our partnership were particularly evident through the praise of our parishes ongoing support by its priest, the Reverend Andreis Diaz Dorta.
Bishop Michael and Bill were accompanied by Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate, and a delegation from the Anglican Church of Canada. As part of their visit, the delegation participated in the Synod of our companion diocese at the Cathedral in Havana. Among the agenda items at their Synod was a presentation about the diocese’s strategic plan, a youth-led workshop on ethics and values and a report from the Metropolitan Council of Cuba. Bishop Michael brought greetings on behalf of the diocese and in a moment of levity, he presented Bishop Griselda with an official Canadian Olympic jacket (which will undoubtedly come in handy during her next visit to Canada). Bill also made a presentation to Synod about the ways our diocese was engaging God’s mission in our corner of the Earth.
