Bishop Michael Bird

The Right Reverend
Michael A. Bird

The Right Reverend Michael A. Bird is the eleventh Bishop of Niagara, having been consecrated bishop on September 30, 2007 and becoming diocesan bishop on March 1, 2008. Bishop Michael is the spiritual leader and chief pastor for the diocese of Niagara.

IIn accepting his new ministry, Bishop Michael invited the entire diocese into a process of discernment which helped to formulate a renewed vision for ministry. He has been steadfast and clear in his desire to implement this vision and to lead our diocese in a missional, vision-shaped future in which we follow Christ passionately as partners with God and others promoting God’s mission in the world. He works diligently with clergy, lay leaders and members of the church, inviting us all to live out, more and more fully, the diocese’s dynamic and faithful vision for ministry. The Bishop is a strong advocate for justice and inclusion in the life of the church and world.

IIn addition to his leadership within our diocese, Bishop Michael is also actively involved in our church nationally and worldwide. Most notably, he has been actively involved in the Consultation of Anglican Bishops in Dialogue since its inception in 2011.
