Order of Niagara Recipients

As part of our commitment to excellence in ministry, the Order of Niagara seeks to honour lay people and their important contributions to ministry in the diocese. The second of two installation services for people nominated to the Order of Niagara in 2014 took place on November 23 at Christ's Church Cathedral in Hamilton.

The list of ministries undertaken by this year's recipients was extensive and covered all aspects of our diocesan vision. Among the many recipients at the service were Ms. Barbara Clunes who was recognized for her outstanding leadership and compassionate outreach ministry at St. James, Fergus and Mr. Jim Higginson, from St. Luke's Smithville, who was recognized for sharing his gifts as an accountant and marketer with the church. Also notable, among a cast of notable recipients, was Ms. Karen Lampman from The Church of Our Saviour The Redeemer, Stoney Creek, who was lauded for they ways her devout and joy-filled ministry as a server for over 27 years has offered much inspiration to the congregation.

The Order of Niagara was created in 2000 as a way of celebrating lay ministry.  Parishes are invited annually to nominate a person who has given of themselves to the parish, diocese and the wider Church. The Bishop also makes direct appointments to the Order of Niagara.
