Youth Synod/Youth Synod in Action (YS/YSA)
Youth Synod and Youth Synod in Action are annual events that happens over two sessions, gathering together 50-60 youth aged 13-21 in addition to a number of community volunteers.
Youth Synod is a meeting, or synod session, with motions prepared by participants, informed by their immersion experiences and issues or commitments with which they are passionate. Delegates commit to specific action and share their commitments with the wider diocese. On occasion delegates will also create motions that are eventually presented at diocesan synod.
Youth Synod in Action is a weekend event hosted at a parish in the diocese. During the weekend delegates will, gather, worship, pray, play and learn about social justice and social action initiatives and programs through immersion experiences. The immersion experiences change from year to year and reflect the community that is hosting YSA and the areas of justice delegates express an interest in learning more about.
Each parish is encouraged to be represented by an unlimited number of delegates; these delegates are invited to attend by the parish.
YSA: advocating for a world that reflects God's mission, love, hope, hospitality, inclusion and justice.
