Canterbury Hills Camp
Canterbury Hills Camp Board of Directors seeks nominations for several members to join us in guiding the camping program into the future. We need directors with a passion for the ministry of transforming the lives of young people through camping. The Board attempts to reflect the diversity, gender and geographical balance of the diocese. The Board is open to nominations of clergy, parishioners and community members.
Canterbury Hills’ unique camping experience provides opportunities for children and youth to build community, engage in experiential learning, increase environmental awareness and connect with their innate spirituality. Set in the Carolinian forest, our safe and inclusive child-centred experience encourages outdoor adventures, respect for creation, creativity and ownership in planning the daily schedule.
Ideally, the nominees will be skilled or experienced in at least two of the following categories: Business Management; Communications; Diversity Training; Environment; Ethics; Fundraising; Gender Sensitivity; HR Management; Information Management/IT; Legal; Marketing; Property Maintenance; Risk Management; Safe Church Training; Strategic Planning; Summer Camp Experience; Theological Reflection; Voluntary Board Governance.
Directors are expected to adhere to and uphold the mission, vision and values of Canterbury Hills. Terms are for three years. Board of Directors are volunteers, unpaid and elected at the Annual General Meeting held May 27, 2018. Board meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00-9:00pm at Cathedral Place (252 James Street North, Hamilton, ON). Ad hoc committee meetings are additional. Nominees should feel comfortable sharing responsibility for developing policy. The time commitment required for a director of the board is approximately 50-70 hours per year.
