PWRDF Responds to Earthquake in Nepal

Donations will be matched by the Government of Canada

Posted April 29, 2015

The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) has made an initial grant of $20,000 in relief funds for Nepal after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake devastated the region between Kathmandu and Pokhara on April 25. Thousands of people have died and many more have been injured or left homeless as many buildings in the affected region were damaged or destroyed.

PWRDF's response is being coordinated through the ACT Alliance. According to PWRDF's website, "ACT members with offices in Kathmandu began providing immediate relief– food, water, shelter and medical supplies– within hours of the quake, and are currently determining what the greatest needs are as they coordinate their response." All donations to PWRDF between April 25 and May 25, 2015 for the Nepal earthquake relief efforts will be matched, dollar for dollar, by the Government of Canada into their Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund, which will be used to provide humanitarian relief in the wake of this catastrophe.
