New Archdeacons

At Synod Bishop Michael Bird announced the appointment of two new regional archdeacons to replace retiring Archdeacon Bruce McPetrie. The Reverend Canon Dr. John Course (left) will become the Archdeacon of Brock while the Reverend Max Woolaver (right) will serve as the Archdeacon of Lincoln.  Regional archdeacons serve the church within our diocese by taking particular responsibility for church buildings, the welfare of clergy and their families and the implementation of diocesan policy within the region to which they are assigned. Both appointments take effect on January 1, 2015.

In announcing the appointments, Bishop Bird lauded the ministry of Archdeacon McPetrie, both as a parish priest and for having served as an archdeacon for over a decade. We wish Archdeacon McPetrie a very happy retirement and every blessing as he begins a new part of his life`s journey.

Bishop Bird and Dean Peter Wall also named the following people as honourary Canons of Christ's Church Cathedral: Derek Anderson, Ralph Blackman, Alison D’Atri, Elizabeth Huether, Michael Mondloch and Susan Wilson.

The installation of canons and collation of archdeacons will take place at Christ's Church Cathedral on February 22 at 4:30 p.m., An Organ Recital by Michael Bloss at 4 p.m. will precede the service and a reception will follow. Clergy are invited to vest, choir habit (cassock, surplice, tippet) or alb. No stole is necessary as it will be an Evensong service.
